The Application of Aluminium Phosphide for Vertebrate Control The Application of Aluminium Phosphide - Phostoxin or Talunex for Vertebrate Control

Since 26th November 2015, City and Guilds, Lantra or RSPH qualifications will be the only recognised certificates taught and assessed for the sale, purchase and use of aluminium phosphide.

The one day training course is designed to prepare trainees for the Level 2 Award assessment in the safe use of aluminium phosphide - phostoxin or talunex for vertebrate control.

All staff teaching the course hold the level 2 Award in the Application of Aluminium Phosphide for Vertebrate Control and BPCA fumigation Certificate

The Course Programme:

  2. Legislation
  3. Personal Safety and Contamination, Prevention and First Aid
  4. Environment and Wildlife
  5. The Product Label
  6. The Pesticide Container, Storage and Transportation
  7. Application Equipment, Excess Pesticide and Container Disposal
  8. Record Keeping
  9. Product Use-Preparation
  10. Product Use- Target Species, Reasons for Control and Non Target Species
  11. Product Use-Application
  12. Product Use- Cleaning, Storage and Records

The training course is aimed at people new to the use of aluminium phosphide or as a refresher training to those already buying or using aluminium phosphide.

Training courses are normally run at our premises IP28 6RD but can be run at your premises providing you have a minimum of 8 people. Training courses at our site will include lunch and refreshments.

A full training resource pack is provided.

The course fee will be £120.00 + vat and £10.00 (no vat) for the work booklet to accompany the course.

This does not include the assessment or registration with City and Guilds or RSPH which will be in the region of £160-00 (to be finalised depending on the location of the assessment and equipment used).


Once you have been trained you will have to be carry out an individual assessment. The assessment for the award consists of two units.
