Whether you work in a café, a restaurant, a catering organisation or a food manufacturer, to comply with the Food Safety Regulations 2006, you need to hold a Food Safety qualification.

Pest Solution proposes the three Level 2 Awards in Food Safety from the RSPH (Royal Society for Public Health). These qualifications reflect the national occupational standards in food safety for catering, for retail and for manufacturing. They incorporate the legal requirement for all food business to operate food safety management based on HACCP principles (Hazard Analysis Critical Control Points).

Level 2 Award in Food Safety in Catering

This award is designed principally for those who are or who intend to be food handlers working in a catering environment. This qualification is also be appropriate for people whose work requires them to enter food premises. It focuses on the importance of hygiene, the food handler’s legal responsibilities and their role in monitoring food safety procedures, and how to handle, prepare and process food safely.

Level 2 Award in Food Safety for Retail

This award is principally designed for those handling or preparing food within a retail environment. This qualification is also be appropriate for people working in food storage areas, in-store bakeries, hot food preparations and service areas as well as those working on fresh produce counters within the retail environment. The Level 2 Award in Food Safety for Retail focuses on the importance of hygiene, the food handler’s legal responsibilities and their role in monitoring food safety procedures, and how to handle, prepare and process food safely.

Level 2 Award in Food Safety for Manufacturing

This is designed for those who work in all areas of the food and drinks manufacturing sectors. As well as being designed for those that are directly involved in the handling or processing of food and drinks, it is also be suitable for those who are required to enter food and drinks manufacturing premises. The level 2 award focuses on the importance of food hygiene, associated food safety hazards, good hygiene practice and controls based upon awareness of food safety management systems.

Delivery: All the above courses are delivered as one day course.

Exam: The candidates sit the exam at the end of the one day course. The exam consists of 30 multi-choice questions in 40 minutes.
