Although the Level 2 Award in Pest Management (formally the Level 2 Certificate in Pest Control) provides the basis of pest control, changes in the accreditation system have led to the introduction of the Level 2 Certificate in Pest Management. It fulfils the legal requirement relating to the training of pest control technicians as set out in the Control of Pesticides Regulations 1986 and 1987 as amended. This qualification was produced with the support and endorsement of the British Pest Control Association (BPCA) and National Pest Technicians Association (NPTA). It has also been accredited on the Qualification and Credit Framework (QCF).
The Level 2 Certificate in Pest Management, which typically involves 90 hours of study, consists of five units.
Three classroom based units:
Two practical units:
The course is taught over eight days over four weeks culminating in an assessment consisting of three one-hour exams and two practical assessments. This gives the trainees time to reflect on topics between sessions and we find that learners make better progress when the course is divided into bite size chunks rather than an intensive course. We can also offer practical days out in Suffolk with a technician, so you get the practical knowledge to help you in the practical assessments.
Once obtained, this qualification allows you entry on the BASIS Professional Register of Managers and Pest Technicians (PROMPT) CPD scheme.
